Elegant restaurant in Glasgow

"The Ivy Buchanan Street, Glasgow" in Glasgow, Scotland, is an elegant restaurant that is part of the renowned Ivy Collection and has made a name for itself in the heart of the city. Opened in 2019, it brings the concept of a year-round, relaxed yet upscale British brasserie to the Scottish metropolis. The restaurant is a popular meeting spot for locals, business people, and tourists alike, who appreciate its proximity to the famous "Style Mile" and Glasgow's vibrant nightlife scene. It combines the iconic style of the original Ivy in London with a touch of local Scottish flair, offering a luxurious refuge amidst the urban hustle.

Exclusive options for special occasions

The interior of "The Ivy Buchanan Street" spans two floors and is a true feast for the eyes. The decor features a blend of Art Deco elements, lush greenery, and striking artworks that create a glamorous yet inviting atmosphere. Large onyx bars on both levels serve as a central focal point, while the seating areas, adorned with comfortable upholstery and stylish details, convey a relaxed elegance. Notably, the private dining room, "The Morgan Room," with its floral motifs and artworks reminiscent of the shipbuilding tradition along the Clyde, offers an exclusive option for special occasions. There is also a Parisian-style terrace outside that invites guests to linger in pleasant weather while enjoying views of the city.

Modern british brasserie Glasgow

The menu is diverse, offering a modern interpretation of British classics as well as international influences, served from morning until evening. Particularly popular is the Duck Liver Parfait, served with caramelized hazelnuts, truffles, and a pear-ginger compote on toasted brioche—a rich and flavorful starter often described as unforgettable. The Blackened Cod with soybeans and spicy miso butter also stands out, a dish that impresses with its perfect balance of textures and flavors. For meat lovers, the Ivy Truffle Hamburger is a highlight—a juicy burger with truffle mayonnaise and thick chips that captivates with its intensity. For dessert, the Melting Chocolate Bombe tempts guests with a warm chocolate dessert featuring a liquid center and is served with vanilla ice cream, much to the delight of many visitors.

The staff focuses on providing guests with a special experience, whether through wine pairing recommendations or small gestures like birthday surprises. On busy days, such as during weekend brunches or evening peak hours, however, the noise level can rise, and some guests find the tables a bit closely placed. The option to order through the Ivy Rewards app and enjoy exclusive benefits is appreciated by many and streamlines the experience.

Visitor feedback is predominantly positive, with the stylish decor, food quality, and excellent location often highlighted. However, there is some criticism: some guests note occasional inconsistencies in food preparation or are surprised by the automatically added service charge, which is optional. Nonetheless, the restaurant remains a place suitable for special occasions, as well as for a spontaneous brunch or dinner with friends. It also offers gluten-free and vegetarian options, as well as a weekend brunch that underscores the versatility of the menu.

A special aspect of "The Ivy Buchanan Street" is its adaptability to different needs. The private dining room is perfect for celebrations or business meals, while regular live music or DJ nights enhance the nightlife experience. The restaurant is accessible, with an elevator to "The Morgan Room," and pays attention to small details that enhance the stay—whether through seasonal decorations or the opportunity to sit outside and watch the city.

What a lovely experience once again in the Ivy. This time we needed a little help to accommodate my partner and his crunches. They re assigned our table to make him comfortable. We managed the stairs to the beautiful cocktail bar however when leaving they offered to assist him in the lift. As well as excellent food and service, the care from staff on this occasion was excellent.

Food and wine were delicious. Service impeccable, was asked about any food allergies or requirements and the birthday treat was a nice touch. Although busy, there was a nice quiet relaxed atmosphere.

I've been here a lot of times and I really enjoy it every time. The steak is good, and the atmosphere is great as well. The staff has always been friendly. It’s definitely one of my go-to spots whenever I’m going for a nice dinner.

+ Nice atmosphere and decor. + Fantastic attentive service. + Food was very good. - Food portions are small. - Corner seating for 2 at 90° was uncomfortable, slightly cramped leg space and restricted space on table. - 12.5% service charged added to bill.

Great place, The interior looks fantastic with all its paintings and decor, Service is amazing too, the staff are so professional. The only bad thing was our mains were sent out 2 mins after our starters arrived! We had our starters and mains at the same time, basically, so our small table was a bit overcrowded with plates! Our steaks were also not cooked how we asked for them but we didn't complain as we were hungry and it was still nice food and a great experience being in the Ivy. After our meal, we went upstairs to the bar and enjoyed a couple of drinks. We will definitely be back.

I come here very regularly and normally service and food are all great. But today the kitchen had an oven breakdown - I understand that’s a challenge and I was happy to wait. But our allotted time at the table was then exceeded so we were told we had to move to the bar or leave. To be fair, we were told desserts at the bar would be free of charge but by this time we were annoyed and disappointed at having to move when it was not our fault. So we left. And the server , knowing our disappointment, was not bothered in the slightest.

Difficult to review this place beyond that if any other bar, which probably isn’t fair as it’s much more. However, our visit was only a fleeting one as a bar not knowing the area or the nature of business. Service staff were very friendly, welcoming and couldn’t be more gratuitous. Bar staff served everyone like friends and have a welcoming vibe. Place was busy and food being delivered to tables looked great. After our swift drinks, chose to move on, and paid the bill. £29 for a glass of red Malbec wine and an orange gin and lemonade..? That’s not normal or even reasonable prices is it? Or have I missed an economic shift of ludicrous proportions? I could of bought 3 bottles of each for that price?

Beautifully prepared & presented food. Service was excellent too. All the staff are wonderfully well dressed & polite. If I had 1 issue, it was the volume & choice of music. A little too loud & very modern. I would like something that is more appealing to a wider range of diner. Update 2025, the music had improved dramatically. The food was still wonderful & the staff are very well trained.
